Q2 is set. Now it's time to run it.
The planning work you put in at the start of a quarter only pays off if the execution remains disciplined. Here are three areas worth a personal check before you get too deep into Q2.
🔹 Priorities — Keep It to 1-3, Then Work Them Weekly
If you have more than three priorities this quarter, you don't have priorities — you have a wish list. Pull yours up and ask: are they connected to an Annual Initiative or rolling up to a Company Priority? If not, they're floating.
Once they're anchored, use Tasks as weekly milestones. Breaking a 13-week priority into weekly moves keeps you from the end-of-quarter scramble. And if you haven't used the AI Coach to pressure-test whether your priorities are truly SMART, that's a five-minute exercise worth doing right now.
🔹 KPIs and Critical Numbers — Know Your Next Move
Your Critical Number should tell you at a glance whether you're on track for the quarter. Your KPIs are the early warning system — the leading indicators that show you where things are heading before the quarter tells you the answer.
Here's the real test: if a KPI goes red, do you know exactly what you'll do next? If the answer is "I'd have to think about it," that KPI isn't ready. Take a few minutes to assign a clear course-correction action to each one. Knowing something is off isn't enough — having the response ready is what makes the data useful.
🔹 Huddles — Your Setup Only Works If You Work It
A great Q2 plan sitting in Align won't move the needle on its own. Look at your weekly meeting — are the right KPIs on the agenda? Is your Critical Number visible? Do any of your priorities need a dedicated weekly or bi-weekly working session to keep them moving?
Quick Tip from Our Own Team:
In our Daily Huddle — we call it the Big Huddle — every Parent Priority owner gives a very short Priority Update every Tuesday before the regular standup. It takes about 10 extra minutes, but it keeps the whole company connected to what's moving, not just the people in the working group. Low effort, real impact.
The quarter is already underway. A little time now making sure these three areas are dialed in will save you a lot of scrambling in week 11.
