Ever feel like you’re spending more time in Align than the Time Guide suggests? You might be—but that’s not always a bad thing. Here’s how to know if your time is well spent—or if it’s time to simplify.
🔹 Start With One Focus.
Great ideas are exciting, but not every idea belongs in this quarter’s plan. What’s the single most important outcome for your business this quarter? Revenue growth? Retention? Safety? Rank every Strategic Priority by its potential impact on that one number. And remember, no one should have more than three Strategic Priorities.
🔹 Check the Type of Work.
Are your priorities strategic (working on the business) or task-management (working in the business)? If you're tracking projects (not Strategic Priorities), it’s normal to spend more time in the platform. That time isn’t wasted, it’s aligned.
🔹 Trim the Noise.
Data is powerful, but only if it drives action. Take a fresh look at your KPIs. Can you clearly state what you'll do if one goes off track? If not, it may not belong on the dashboard.
🔹 Set It, Then Work It.
Use Align to lock in the quarter with your Critical Numbers, Company Priorities, and KPIs. Then shift to execution: keep the rhythm of daily huddles and weekly team check-ins alive (once you've mastered those, add monthly number reviews and performance 1:1s). That’s what turns planning into performance.
👉 Check the Time Guide to see where your team stands.
Fewer, better priorities executed well will take you further than a long list that never gets across the finish line.
